Cosmetic gynaecology consultation in Chennai

Cosmetic gynaecology at RV Clinic is a clinical consultation for physical problems after childbirth or with age: looseness that affects comfort, a painful episiotomy or tear scar, labial skin that rubs or hurts, and dryness. The first step is always an honest assessment of whether the problem is medical and whether exercises or local treatment will settle it; a procedure comes only after that, at the affiliated hospital.

Dr. Ragavi Vikram offers this consultation at RV Clinic Madipakkam and RV Clinic Thalambur.

Problems you may be searching for

If any of these brought you here, you are in the right place.

  • loose feeling after delivery
  • episiotomy scar pain
  • stitches place hurts during intercourse
  • reduced sensation after childbirth
  • air passing from the vagina
  • labia rubbing on clothes
  • labia pain while cycling
  • dryness after menopause

What cosmetic gynaecology means here

At RV Clinic it is a medical assessment first, and a procedure only when there is a clear medical reason and a realistic chance of helping.

Childbirth stretches the vaginal walls, the pelvic floor muscles and the skin between the vagina and the anus (the perineum). Most of this recovers within a year. Some women are left with looseness (vaginal laxity) that reduces sensation or lets air in and out, a tender scar, or a gap in the muscles that leaves the opening wider. Inner lips (labia minora) that rub on underwear or hurt during cycling or intercourse are a physical problem, not a cosmetic one.

Not covered: procedures purely for appearance, and anything for teenagers, whose bodies are still developing.

When you should see a doctor

A consultation is worth having if:

  • Intercourse is uncomfortable or has lost sensation since a delivery more than six months ago.
  • An episiotomy or tear scar is tender, pulls, or hurts on sitting, cycling or intercourse.
  • The inner lips chafe against clothing or hurt during exercise.
  • Dryness or soreness after menopause or while breastfeeding that lubricants do not settle.
  • You feel something bulging or coming down, or leak urine when you cough. That is prolapse, not a cosmetic problem; start with urine leakage and prolapse treatment in Chennai.

How it is assessed at RV Clinic

The history covers your deliveries, any episiotomy or tear, when the problem began, what it stops you doing, and any urine leaking or bulging.

The examination is done in the separate examination room with the lady attender present. She checks the skin and any scar, dryness, the strength of the pelvic floor muscles, the gap in the perineal muscles, and any prolapse. No photographs are taken.

The assessment ends with a plain answer on what is causing it and what is likely to help. Sometimes the honest answer is that a procedure would not help.

Treatment options, in order

Treatment starts with the least invasive option that can work.

Pelvic floor muscle training

Correctly done pelvic floor (Kegel) exercises improve tone, sensation and the feeling of looseness in many women within three months.

Local treatment

Dryness after menopause or while breastfeeding responds to vaginal moisturisers and, where suitable, low-dose oestrogen cream. A tender scar is treated with scar massage and treatment of any hidden infection.

Procedures

When a physical problem persists, Dr. Ragavi discusses a procedure: repair of the perineal muscles (perineoplasty), revision of a painful scar, or reduction of the inner lips (labiaplasty) when they cause pain. Each is discussed with its realistic benefit, recovery and risks. Laser and radiofrequency devices marketed for laxity are not offered here; the evidence for them is not settled. Nothing is offered within six months of a delivery, while breastfeeding, or while another pregnancy is planned soon. For menopausal dryness, see menopause care in Chennai.

Where treatment happens

Assessment, exercise teaching, local treatment and follow-up happen at RV Clinic Madipakkam or RV Clinic Thalambur, whichever is closer to you. Any procedure is done by Dr. Ragavi herself at Unittas Multispeciality Hospital, which is 21 km from the Madipakkam clinic and 5 km from the Thalambur clinic. RV Clinic is an outpatient clinic. No operation is done at either clinic address.

What to expect at your appointment

  1. Book by call or WhatsApp. Saying it is a consultation for a problem after delivery is enough.
  2. A private conversation first, then a short examination with the lady attender present. No photographs.
  3. A clear opinion on what will help. Exercises are taught the same day.
  4. Review after about three months; a procedure is discussed only then.

Frequently asked questions

Delivery-ku appuram loose-a irukku madhiri irukku. Idhu sari aaguma?

Often, yes. The vaginal walls and pelvic floor recover a great deal in the first year, and correctly done exercises speed that up.

Is this a cosmetic procedure or a medical one?

The consultation is medical. Pain, laxity, chafing and dryness are physical problems and are treated as such.

Will the procedure be done at the clinic?

No. Any procedure is done at Unittas Multispeciality Hospital by Dr. Ragavi, with a short stay.

Stitch potta idam innum valikkudhu, delivery aagi rendu varusham aachu. Treatment irukka?

Yes. A tender scar can be treated at any time, usually with scar massage and local treatment; a small scar revision is possible.

Does laser vaginal treatment work?

The evidence is not settled, and regulators in some countries have cautioned against marketing it for laxity. It is not offered at RV Clinic. Exercises, local oestrogen and, where needed, surgical repair have better evidence.

Can I plan a repair during pregnancy?

Nothing is planned until at least six months after delivery. Antenatal visits are the place to discuss perineal care; see pregnancy care in Chennai.
